As you guys know I live in the UK for almost 2 years now. When I moved here I knew that I had to find a job because I had to pay for accommodation, food and living goods. To be honest it was not long until I got my first interview in a worldwide multi millionaire company called McDonald's. (pause for laughs) I know this fast food company is seen as bad payment and an easy job but it isn't. After 2 years I still work at the same place, I have met so many different people and learnt so much. This job gave me the opportunity to develop my english skills by forcing myself to talk with all types of people and accents(because I was a till girl) while learning about team work, fast problem solving, time management, follow rules and be on time for my shifts.
The job is not easy, it requires a lot from your mind and body because you're dealing with all types of people: drunk, rude, pervert or racists on a 7/8/9 hour shift. You are always standing on your feet, running around trying to break time records, trying to deliver the better service possible while keeping your mood and attitude positive. Once again, it's not easy. But well, when I started I thought it was going to be a temporary job because in summer I always go back to Portugal fo 3 months and i didn't know if I could manage to do uni and work at the same time but it turned up just fine and I'm happy to say that I wouldn't have changed my mind towards taking the job. It is tiring, intense, it does test your sanity sometimes but after all it's a job is not perfect but at least you get your money and some funny stories to tell and laugh about
Xx Mariana.
